Reading Literacy Economics
See below for the prompts I used to generate the timeline.
The Evolution of Literacy and Written Communication
Key Milestones in Written Communication
Note: Data points are approximations based on historical literacy rates and societal factors. The economic value shows how valuable literacy skills were as a profession (higher means more exclusive/valuable). Social utility represents how useful literacy was in everyday life. Writing difficulty indicates the effort required to produce written content.
Prompt 1
What's the timeline for when people who knew how to read and write were valuable like and it went from being a scribe to like a printer to an author to a blogger or to journalist how would you break that down. maybe include texting and voice chat as an especially big jump in the number of people
Prompt 2
what other milestones are there? I'm thinking of revolutions being enabled by widely shared pamphlets, or union broadsheet and stuff like that. is there anything abotu coffee shops we could add? is there a high peak in the newspaper editions per day or something? What else can you think about? I want to make a interact graph of all of this and it would be good to be detailed, and be able to have an explanation popup when you hover
